It's not a (that's it. It's not a what?)

......along with "Organic Coffee" and "Specialty beer"

Lots of Instant Lottery tickets cover the wall for you degenerate gamblers :)

I noticed this sign just this morning. It also says "organic girl on 3rd" or something like that.

HUH? There's no jump in posts; there's lots of posts from May. You must be looking at the "Joined" date and not the "Posted" date. :?

Here is the description fron the Eagle article:

“This will be a seafood tavern and restaurant specializing in mussels including a raw bar and wine list,” said Pulaski, adding that it seats 45 with a bar and background music. “In the future he may have a DJ playing soft and live music, have open doors and a sidewalk café, but no dancing.”

Its opening is planned for September, and its hours are seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. for lunch, dinner and after dinner menus. “The owner is marketing to 30- to 55-year-olds,” Pulaski said, noting that Bantis is aware of past underage drinking and loud DJ music violations by the former business and is making sure that does not happen in the new place.

carfreeinla, I was just thinking the same thing that there's supposed to be an oyster bar opening on 3rd between 85th & 86th (across the street from where Robicelli's was). Interesting that now there's also a seafood place opening where Canteena was.

As for RJs...mamag and Grizzy, their sign has been down for many months now while they were still open for business. But if their liquor license renewal was rejected then I guess they'll close now. There were a lot of noise complaints (very loud music for such a small bar) when they first opened, and crowded then, but it quickly lost business from what I saw (always empty, 3 or 4 patrons at the most, when I walked by at night in the past year).

From the article link qwijibo posted:
“Huckleberry’s NY will be a family café with a coffee and wine bar, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner serving American food, organic coffees and organic wines with seating for 74,” said Pulaski. “It will be open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. until about 11 p.m. There will be light radio music and no dancing. The owners own a similar place in Staten Island. An owner will always be on the premises. They live in Bay Ridge.”
Owner Andreas Chamberas and associate Nicholas Chamberas attended the committee meeting, and they agreed to the closing time limit, after committee members cited the previous difficulties with bar noise at the site in the vicinity of two other “problem bars.” The board approved the SLA application.

This was done to take advantage of a loophole that allows a new entity a temporary license.
Bar 88 is probably the same people as RJ's who re-applied under the new name.

Bay Ridge Sushi, currently located at northeast corner of 69th & 3rd Ave is moving across the street and one block south. The owner said they'll be in the new place next month.

On a related topic, I finally ordered from Emphasis Diner on 4th Ave & 69th last night. Everything was excellent -- the best diner food I think I've ever had. But you pay for it. $30 for dinner, including delivery tip. Whoa.

Los Pollitos is back at their other location on 3rd near 72nd street. Looks like they've totally re-arranged the inside. Now the cooking part is in the back, lots of room for tables, and there's even a little hostess station.

Thanks for this update. I love Los Pollitos and am very happy that the neighborhood didn't lose them. I was worried a few weeks back when it looked like they were closed when I rode by. Of course, now that the 37 bus is gone I won't be riding by any of the Third Ave businesses on a regular basis anymore so threads like this will help me keep up with changes along Third Ave. I live in the 90s and rode the 37 frequently from downtown so I always saw when new businesses were opening or old ones were closing. Now I'll only hop on the 70 if I have a specific destination in mind somewhere on the other end of Third Ave in the 70s or 60s because, in general, the 70 doesn't go anywhere I need to go. But the 70 must be better than no bus for the businesses along Third Ave.

I've only ordered delivery from Los Pollitos (and it is always good) but I have never eaten in the restaurant. It sounds like the new setup is better with tables in front and kitchen in back. The old way it didn't even look like they had tables. It looked like mainly a takeout place.

It's a confusing story. As I understand it...

- LP opened on the south west corner of 73rd street.
- After a relatively short amount of time, LP closed on that location
- A short time later The Hen House exterior went up. A little while later they opened up for business.
- Meanwhile, Los Pollitos popped back up a block north, near 72nd street on the east side of the street.
- Then they closed for renovations
- Then they opened in a temporary spot about 6 doors south, still on the east side of the street
- Now they've opened again back near 72nd street on the east side of the street.

All I can say is that they must be exhausted!
