Ouija Boards

Has anyone here operated a Ouija board while blindfolded? I'm curious - are the results the same as when you view the board?

Seems to me that if everyone were blindfolded they'd eventually run the planchette off the board, due to ideomotor effect w/o visual cues.

That was the point of the question; does viewing the board prompt the operator's subconscious direction of the planchett that would preclude the possibility of "psychic" input.

I've gotten "real" results when I was blindfolded, but, I was the only operator and no stranger to a ouija board so my subconscious might have known where to go. Our minds are funny like that. My friend who was writing down what I was spelling out was surprised at the clarity and relevance of the "message". For what it's worth, I swear I wasn't playing around or trying to scare anyone. I wasn't even trying to spell out a message. I was wearing headphones playing white noise as part of the experiment so I couldn't hear anything anyone in the room said till it was over. Kind of a weird experience to be honest.

Wow, Laura, thanks! That's what I was looking for. Back in the '60s, when everyone was doing everything, I fooled around w/Ouija. Today I wouldn't. Now it's too "real" and not in a good way.

To really test it you'd need a subject who'd never seen a ouija board. Or you could use a Hebrew, Sanskrit or Cyrillic board -- if you don't know those alphabets and have a translator at hand. (If the boards "speak" via Roman-alphabet-only it casts doubt on the psychic/spirity angle.)

I agree, though maybe the medium needs to mentally comprehend the message in order to deliver it. Seems like if it were a natural phenomenon (that we're yet to understand) it'd be more that way. Besides, these were just everyday ghosts, not exorcist caliber demons we're talking about ;) Or too many bottles of wine.

Calling a cute cuddly Sea Monkey a "vile spirit" is just plain ignorant. Sea Monkeys have feelings just like we do. You would be surprised of how advance they could be. They have a Royal Sea Monkey family and everything. Please stop this finger pointing and name calling to my Sea Monkey friends and well, surrogate family. I expect an apology. I'm hurt. I'm not even telling the Sea Monkeys about this. I hope they don't log on to this site today. You are mean.

OK Joking aside, I just spoke to someone I know who is quite knowledgeable in the Spirit World (She is a WICCAN and everything) and I asked her about the blindfolded Ouija Board test. No it will not work if you are blindfolded BUT she highly recommends the MAGIC 8 BALL. That has been proven to work even when you are blindfolded.

You're Welcome.

So many people I know think that it's the best show ever... I don't know. They spoil their bratty kids ridiculously, the situations in which she "surprise" reads people are obviously set up and she's a little too over the top for me. Mostly I can't get over the hair and nails. She does seem to be a nice person though.

Not a chance. Their parents don't talk like that so they won't. I expect a little cawfee and dawg and I will battle but can live with that. I prefer to think of it as the town Paul Krugman is from than Fisher and the Lohans. :D

It is important to understand that if you have touched a ouija board, then you have probably hosted at least one, if not more, manifestations of spirit habitation. Goose bumps, deja vu, that creepy "someone is watching me" feeling, mistakes on your taxes, etc. To have "pierced the veil" into the spirit world, as it is called, one places in jeopardy everything they hold as dear.

Just looking at a ouija board, even on television, has made you vulnerable. Trust me.

But, fear not! It just so happens that, as a adept in the mysteries of Magick (note: I capitalized the 'M' and used a 'k' at the end, so that must mean that I know my shit), I happen to have that knowledge to protect you. This protection is so secret and powerful that it is not even Googleable.

A talisman, made from rare earth magnets and inscribed with sigils of warding (that only I know and the spirits fear with dread) can be yours for the low price of only $59.99.

I know what your thinking (but one more of the panoply of hermetic skills with which I am endowed)...$59.99, what a steal!

But wait, there's more!

Because the talisman is made from rare earth magnets, and fashioned into a bracelet, wearing this protection will not only ward off evil spirits, malicious wights and curmudgeonly spooks, it will also help fix your carpal tunnel syndrome.

That's Right! The science of reflexology allows me to craft only the best remedies for your aches and pains, too!

If you act now, though, I'll not only double the offer (two talismans), but I'll knock a third off the price! That's right! Demand is so high for this two-fer product that the production lines are running day and night, allowing me to make these talismans available to the public for the first time at the low, low price of only $39.99. That's right, only $39.99. But you have to order now; these babies are moving out the door faster than I can make 'em.

But if you act now, I'll even sweeten the deal. Upon receiving your order, you'll be place in the queue for a special blessing. Through the miracles of the digital age, I'm able to send you your blessing right over the internet! Just press your forehead against your computer monitor at precisely 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 12, 2012 and feel my lovelight wrap you in an aura of protection, bliss and prosperity.

Don't wait. Act now. Every moment you delay, something horrible may happen to you!

I know, I know... it was great when we were kids, but now? meh...what's the point.

Really, though, to tap into the Akashic Records and be that kid again...i mean, really, who wouldn't want to tap into that zeitgeist of youth once more...

...all it takes is $9.99 (per minute) and a willingness to believe.
