My turn to be diligent, why would they have trouble staying open four hours?

ha ha. Those four hours between midnight and 4 am ;)

There were 24 hours at one point (but not the pharmacy) -- then they stayed open to midnight for awhile. I don't really see it being of much value without the pharmacy being open.

Walgreens on Third @ 95th St is open til 11pm now most nights, except Sunday, instead of til 10pm, which had been their closing hour since they first opened. I think it's still 10pm on Sundays. I'd be happy if they stayed open even later. Like midnight or 24 hours. They have a parking lot.

It looks like Agnante Meze closed. The store signs are down but the website still shows both Bay Ridge and Astoria as open.
They had a decent run in Bay Ridge.

Agnanti Meze (on 78th & 5th) has been closed for a while now. The first time I saw the empty storefront it took me a moment to realize what it was because their sign was gone and the worn-out remnants underneath say grocery or deli or something like that. And then I realized it was Agnanti's space. I used to like that restaurant but haven't been there in a few years, but I do remember a couple of years ago they were closed by the dept of health, re-opened a few days later, then got shut down again and re-opened again...I don't think they ever got back to what they used to be after that happened.

What's going to be the difference? Are they moving or opening up a cafe with the same name as the restaurant? I like Zio Toto a lot.

Damned if I know; I've never had more than 7" of hair. ;)

I don't view Subway's food as real food. I think of it as a kind of surimi -- one neutral substance that's dyed and then molded into different foodlike shapes.

Ha! You beat me to it, I was just about to ask about this place cause I saw the sign today when passing by. Assuming it's because Zio Toto does such good business that they're expanding. But since it has "Cafe" in the name, I wonder if it will be more of a lunch spot or coffee/dessert place, as opposed to dinner. (I'm guessing lunch; maybe pizzas and paninis, or something like that.)

I hope it's going to be a little of both. I would to visit toto's more often but with two kids in tow it's just too tight a fit for my wiggly little ones. But with a space like that I'd b more comfortable.

The old Blockbuster space on 3rd and 81st - that, and the adjoining former business are fenced off and the sign reads something about "Brooklyn Market"; does anyone know what's going in there? With that vacant gas station place across the street, I'm wondering if that will be used as parking for "Brooklyn Market". Even w/the entire double space possibly utilized, it would still be too small for Trader Joe's/Whole Foods, no?

It's been talked about in this thread, it's planned to be something similar to Eataly.

Yeah, I know it's been discussed before, but quite a bit of time has passed and I'm still curious. Eataly? Boy! That's pretty ambitious. Or is Mario planning a BR outpost?

It's only been a few months since it was first mentioned. I don't know why you would think batali would have a connection to something in bay ridge, or why you think this place is "ambitious"...sheesh, nobody said it's going to be exactly like Eataly, just modeled after it. Obviously it will be something on a much smaller scale; I think the only reason for the comparison is because it will be an Italian market with a trattoria attached.

According to their website http://nouveaubk.com/, it will be a restaurant.

Will it be a club after hours like Dish or Pearl Room ? Time will tell.

I don't know. I just saw a "coming soon" sign on the store front.

edit: according to http://www.phillysoftpretzelfactory.com/mobile/mobilefranchise.php , they are franchising
up and down the east coast, so it could be.
