I don't particularly care.

Just pointing out that long rambling discussions of why a minor infraction of some rule was not really an infraction if you look at it from a 47 degree angle on a cloudy day (and no I don't care what you think I'm right when I say I'm right except that sometimes I know this sort of thing is wrong...) is a classic sign of guilty behavior :-)

You're talking about Bake Ridge Bagels right? eww, unless they've cleaned up their act in recent years, I always heard that place had a major roach problem.

That's the part that confused you NR?! For me it was the "very shady indeed" that had me laughing...um yeah cause it's very shady to not allow customers to bring in outside food to a business that sells food.

i can admit i went from one point to another. he is shady for other reasons which i did not cite, but have been cited before here and other places. he is def not shady for the food reason. again, whatever. if we all took every post here verbatim and actually attempted or cared to analyze every single word/comment it'd really prove that nobody has a life. actually, many here don't.

maybe i should've just posted in things i hate to appease certain ppl/the holier than thous that nitpick at comments.

FYI: It's not 80% off everything...it's up to 80% off (most of their stuff seemed to be 30-50% off)

wasn't referring to you nor the other posters that responded to my post. was just an afterthought regarding the ppl day in and day out that constantly repeat the same thoughts and criticisms. but you are def one of the nitpickers, self admittedly as i am admittedly a skimmer and my thoughts tend to meld into each other without having to spell everything out to people. at the end of the day, unless it's important (which there really isn't much that is on BRT) i don't give a rat's ass who agrees with or understands me.

They've had an "A" since December but they bounced around a lot before that, so it makes sense to check the Health Dept. ratings once in awhile.

yeah their track record is kinda gross when you look at that site; they appear to rack up major violation points and then clean up so they can get a good "grade", and then go back to being dirty again. As recent as late november they had 41 points, and then two weeks later they got an "A".

Noticed "Hernandez Furniture" open on 5th Ave right by the entrance to the 95th Street Subway Entrance. It's a weird location that historically has been a disaster: Boost Mobile was there most recently.

Looks like they're selling mostly that weird cheap/european furniture that populate most furniture stores in the area.

With that being said, the colorful furniture definitely spruces up the big display windows that you see as you exit/emerge from the subway.

Whether they're expanding the bagel shop as rumored or not, I don't know. But lots of construction going on inside both empty spaces on Third @ 95th St. They've knocked out the wall between the two empty spaces making one big space.

Turqua Grill has a "For Rent" sign on the window.

Huckleberries has a bunch of paintings displayed by it's windows, making it look like an Art Gallery
is opening there, but a "For Rent" sign is still on the window.

Richie and Vinnies butcher on 87th has a "Rented" sign up.

Marshall's Legal Possession Notice, dated today March 19, 2012, on the old Bally Bunion space door. Landlord has legal possession of these premises pursuant to order of civil court. Lock was changed.

Juliano Realty LLC (Landlord)
v.
Chelsea Station Ltd (tenant)
Index # 65263 2010
Kings County

So, I guess this explains why nothing has been happening at this empty space. Things have been tied up in court between the landlord and Bally Bunion's owner. Nobody else can move into the space until that is completely resolved. Sounds like it might be resolved now.

Turqua Grill's space has had that sign up since before christmas...where u been?! lol

I noticed the Huckleberry's thing today too and was wondering what that art display is for given there's still a "for rent" sign in the window. :?

I know bay ridge has an art gallery. I also know that it's around 72nd Street, so I would've never figured it had something to do with a display in an empty storefront on 89th St. :P

I still don't know what one has to do with the other, unless the building landlord has a connection with Gallery 364 in some way?

The Gallery 364 display at Huckleberry's is a pop-up. The owner of Gallery 364 states that she wants to do more of these in empty storefronts.

I thnk Huckleberry's is an ideal location for something like this, with its huge window space.

8901 3rd Ave in Bay Ridge, my latest project, filling empty storefronts along third ave with artwork previously shown at Gallery 364. The intention is to beautify the storefronts, expose community to art and inspire people to stroll the avenue. Our Pop-Up Gallery is the first of it's kind here in Bay Ridge. Let's put an end to empty storefronts! If you are a Bay Ridge Artist Contact me if you are interested in showing your work! (from their facebook page)

They do this all of the time in malls out east, but I guess it's new to Bay Ridge. In Massapequa, they feature artists from the high school which is always pretty cool.

Coming soon sign in window and new awning up for BarRidge (capital R in yellow circle like the train). On Fifth between 89 & 90. Previously The Empty Mug. Across the street from the Twenty 3 Club (home of "high energy dining", according to the Twenty 3 Club sign). What exactly is high energy dining?

Thanks. I just read the thread. Must confess that, although I've been by the Twenty 3 Club numerous times, I never once thought of Vegas or The Bellagio. Of course, I've never been inside. Maybe if they had dancing fountains outside and not just a waterfall at the bar. Couldn't help noticing their "high energy dining" sign though. The Russian clubs in BB sound closer to some of Vegas's big, glitzy OTTness. I'm not a big Vegas fan, although I have been dragged there once or twice. It's in the middle of a desert, not near an ocean. At least BB and AC are by the sea.

For awhile they were shifting things around the open store, but I didn't see it closed.

How can you have the "grand" anything of a Rite-Aid?

I am stupefied. When we moved to Bay Ridge 3 years or so ago a cafe on Third around 74th street closed up and very quickly there was a "Chock Full o' Nuts - Coming Soon!" sign. The years past, the sign became a tattered wreck, and eventually it disappeared altogether. Given that the Chock Full further south on 3rd avenue folded pretty quickly I wasn't surprised the new one never opened.

Recently there's been activity around there and I've been excited to see what they might build. A hobby shop? Arts and craft's store? Tiger Schulman?

None of the above. I just walked by there today and there's a brand new awning with an "Opening Soon!" sign on it.

You know what it's going to be? A Chock Full O' Nuts!!

Tara and I were wandering around Coney Island yesterday and saw that they were doing major renovations to Ruby's. Cha Cha's looks like it is gone (frontage was completely bare and the inside looked gutted, by what I could see through an open side window).

For awhile they were shifting things around the open store, but I didn't see it closed.

How can you have the "grand" anything of a Rite-Aid?

Beats me. I was hoping it would close and be replaced by something good -- like a Trader Joe's. ;-)

I think it's a hoot that they had a grand reopening because they moved aisles around. Next up would be a big banner that says "We Now Sell Toothpaste!" or "Well, Here We Are."
