Dog Vacay - a great new pet boarding concept

If any of you are looking for a place to board your dog, you have to check this site out. We just returned from vacation and had a great time because of Dog Vacay. I was planning to put our dog into our usual boarding place (Woofs N Whiskers) but their prices shot up from $45 to $53 per day. Add in their holiday surcharge and taxes and it was going to cost me $540 for nine nights! (My airfare as only $250!) Just in time, I found out about this website. It originated in California, and just came to New York a few months ago.

Basically, it's like dating for your dog. I scrolled through a list of possible hosts and found a couple from Park Slope who seemed perfect. We met at their home for a "meet and greet" and I trusted them to watch my dog in their house. They took great care of him and e-mailed us pictures throughout the week. Oh, and for the same amount of time, I paid $205!! (This couple charged $25 per night (hosts' rates vary) and Dog Vacay gave me a 10% first-time user discount.) Everything's insured, too, so you have peace of mind. I think this actually comes under the "why didn't I think of that" category!

Anyway, thought I'd pass this on in case it'll help others.
