I also got this shocking news for you....Conventional Wisdom isn't always the truth.

Most people many years ago had it wrong, believing the world was flat.

When they looked at the Bible which describes the earth as a Sphere, they saw the Bible and not conventional wisdom had it right.

You should read the Bible instead of listening to majority opinions, because the Bible and God are ALWAYS right.

this is a myth, I have no idea how so many people accepted it as fact. conventional wisdom was NOT that the world was flat. Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Chinese knew that the world was round. People in the times of Columbus knew the world was round, they just thought it was smaller than it really is. Columbus brought with him maps of Viking expeditions to North America, and he brought Chinese translators with him, because that is where he thought he would land. There may have been some uneducated people who believed you could sail off the end of the world, but any educated person in the last 3000 years knew the world was round.

Well....you just sorta proved my point. If enough people believe the myth you just cited,at the time of Columbus most people thought the world was flat. That thinking, even though it's wrong, becomes "conventional wisdom.". ;)

You might be interested in this:
In early Egyptian and Mesopotamian thought the world was portrayed as a flat disk floating in the ocean.

Both Homer and Hesiod described a flat disc cosmography on the shield of Achilles

Thales believed the earth was flat and floated in water like a log.

Anaximander (c. 550 BC) believed the Earth to be a short cylinder with a flat, circular top

Xenophanes of Colophon (c. 500 BC) thought that the Earth was flat, with its upper side touching the air, and the lower side extending without limit

Hecataeus of Miletus believed the earth was flat and surrounded by water

In antiquity, a cosmological view prevailed in India that held the Earth is a disc that consists of four continents grouped around the central mountain Meru like the petals of a flower.

The ancient Norse and Germanic peoples believed in a flat earth cosmography of the earth surrounded by an ocean,

The first chapter of the Nihongi ("Chronicles of Japan") describes the ancient Japanese belief that the world was flat and that dry land floated "like oil" on water:

In ancient China, the prevailing belief was that the Earth was flat and square, while the heavens were round

Conventional wisdom is not necessarily true, because there usually based on ASSumptions.
In fact, it's often becomes a hindrance to many to accept new information.

Dan's actually afraid that he's following the wrong path in life. That's probably why he rants on others and their faith. You might have alot of making up to do for your past actions and not enough time to accomplish it.

You should really watch the Video I posted. In it are former priests and former nuns of the Catholic church expressing their thoughts in a very non threatening manner.Someone showed them the truth of the Gospel and their lives were never the same.
When you know you're on the right path,as these people know they are, there comes a freedom not fright. Some people are afraid of the truth, they'll learn it one day, hopefully not before its too late.

11 pages of fiction doesn't hold a candle to the importance of learning the truth of God's Word, where ones eternity is at stake.

The Catholic Church beliefs are more about tradition made up by men, than about the Truth written in scripture.

For example, Catholics bow down in front of statues and pray. They pray the same words over and over again. They believe a piece of bread transforms into the actual body of Christ. They light candles...they pray for the dead and the pray to the dead....None of this is Biblical. You won't find it anywhere in Scripture. A group of men made it up hundreds of years after Scripture had already been written.

They even went so far as to change the 10 Commandments in order to be able to continue to sell and worship their "graven images." Walking into a Catholic Church like St. Peters, one is immediately struck with all the statues and graven images. This practice is not only not found in Scripture, but, God made it one of the 10 Commandments of things believers are not supposed to do.

So what did these men in the past do?
They simply changed the 10 Commandments.

How absurd! But, that's exactly what they did.

In a Catholic bible you won' find #2, "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above"

To make up for the missing commandment, they made #9 into two separate commandments, which was originally just one.

The original 9th Commandment.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

Catholics revised it so they would have 10.
#9 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife
#10 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods

If you want to go on believing a lie and have your eternal destination depend on those lies...that's on you.

I'll be praying that you'll open your mind to the truth, and not be deceived by the traditions of men.
